Summer’s on the Way!

We’re hoping we will see you at our Easter Open Weekend on April 11th, 12th and 13th. There will be a dog show on the Saturday 11th but there will be an egg hunt on every day as well as fun and games for all ages. It’s the usual admission of £2 for adults and £1 for children.

We have had a quiet winter although there has been a bit of rain !! A Tawny Owl found trapped in the branches of a tree that had been felled but was assessed and luckily appeared to be uninjured. After a couple of days of care in our aviaries, he was returned to the area where he was found.
On May 1st ‘A Wild Night – 30 years of rehab and our responsibility to wildlife’ a talk by Chris Sperring MBE of the Hawk and Owl Trust and Pauline Kidner, Founder of Secret World at The Princess Theatre, Burnham-on-Sea. Hear about Pauline and Chris’ experiences with wildlife over the years. Tickets £10 from 01278 784464 The evening is in aid of Secret World Wildlife Rescue.  It will be an evening to enjoy and it will raise funds for our wildlife work.
May 23rd, 24th & 25th - Late May Open Days at Secret World. Family fun open days to see the work carried out at Secret World. Meet our resident animals and take part in lots of fun games suitable for the whole family.
You will see one of our barns going to auction. This is because we need more funds to be able to start the build on our new wildlife treatment centre this September so lots of changes! We will eventually have a custom built centre that offers the best care for wildlife as well as being environmentally efficient. Your support will help us achieve our aims. Thank you.

Secret World Wildlife Rescue specialises in the rescue, rehabilitation and eventual release of orphaned and injured British wildlife. It is run entirely on donations and is a wildlife rescue charity in the South West of England.

Each year over 5,000 wild animals are helped by Secret World Wildlife Rescue. Together with a dedicated team of staff and volunteers, Secret World continue to care for all manner of creatures, from the tiniest harvest mice and bats to badgers, swans, foxes, deer and of course otters.

If you find injured or orphaned wildlife please call Secret World on 01278 783250.

As well as caring for wildlife, we also offer a learning and outreach programme to local schools, encouraging children to become interested in, and inspired by nature and the environment.

Secret World opens its doors regularly for public events, this offers everyone the opportunity to come and meet the staff and to get a close up look at the work we do.  Please check our website www.secretworld.org for details of these dates or contact as above.

If you would like to volunteer in the charity shop, please contact: Molly Ellis 01278 768704 or Molly.Ellis@secretworld.org.
